India’s first private rocket to launch next week
A space startup Skyroot plans to launch India’s first private rocket next week. The Vikram-S suborbital rocket is completely designed in India. This is the first time an Indian space agency other than ISRO plans to launch a rocket into space.
World’s first 3D printed rocket engine to be tested by year-end
Space startup Agnikul has engineered the world’s first 3D-printed rocket engine ‘Agnilet’ and has already lab-tested it at Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) in Vikram Sarabhai Space Center and IIT Madras. It will be flight tested by the end of this year.
Artemis postponed again
NASA’s Artemis 1 rocket’s launch was postponed again. This time it was because of tropical storm Nicole threatening Florida, where the launchpad is located.
ISS Catches spacecraft with robotic arm
The International Space Station caught Cygnus (a cargo spacecraft carrying scientific investigations and other cargo) with its robotic arm this week. The spacecraft had to be caught because its solar panels, which give it energy, malfunctioned.
ESA and NASA teamed up to relay data back to earth
The two space agencies recently teamed up to relay the data collected by NASA’s Perseverance Rover on mars. The rover transmitted the data to ESA’s Mars Express Spacecraft which orbits the red planet which then sent the data to earth.
