Boeing aborts crewed mission minutes before launch
Last week, Boeing aborted its first-ever crewed mission just minutes before the launch due to a computer malfunction on its systems. The 2 NASA astronauts: Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore were strapped into the rocket and were prepared for launch when the countdown was halted at exactly T- 3 minutes 50 seconds. Both astronauts were brought out safely and the mission has been postponed yet again. The main objective of the mission was to get the 2 astronauts safely onto the ISS for an 8-day stay.
Agnikul launches world’s first rocket with 3D printed engine
Last week, Indian space startup Agnikul Cosmos successfully launched its first-ever rocket: Agnibaan - SOrTeD into space. This is the first-ever rocket in the world to have a 3D-printed engine. The benefits of using 3D-printed engines include a reduction in the number of parts, low cost, and faster production. This rocket is also the second privately built Indian rocket to be launched and it is the first Indian rocket to be launched from a privately built and owned launchpad.
Chang’e-6 lands on the moon
Last week, China’s latest lunar sample return mission Chang’e-6 successfully landed on the moon’s far side (the side not facing the Earth). Since it is a sample return mission, it will now begin collecting soil samples from the surface to be returned to Earth. These samples will be the world’s first soil samples taken from the far side of the moon.
